The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation. It requires public transit agencies to provide comparable services for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the bus or rail.
It is a reasonably priced curb-to-curb transportation service that is available to travel the same area serviced by public transit services – the local bus and rail routes.
If you are someone who has a disability and is unable to use the bus or rail services in your community without assistance, you may qualify to use the ADA paratransit services available in San Diego County. LIFT is operated by NCTD and MTS Access is operated by MTS.
In order to ride the ADA paratransit services, you must first apply for the service and become certified. For more information or to fill out an application with LIFT, please contact ADA Ride, toll-free at (877) 232-7433, or via the Internet at www.adaride.com. For more information or to fill out an application with MTS Access, please contact MTM at (844)-299-6326 or via the Internet at www.rideonmts.com.
It may take up to 21 days to complete the eligibility process for ADA paratransit.
