Program Description

St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center’s (SMSC) mission is to educate and empower individuals with developmental disabilities to realize their full potential. We serve adults with developmental disabilities (e.g. autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy) with nationally recognized, innovative programs. We combine our culture of care and creativity within quality programs to provide liberal arts education, practical skills development, employment, and dignity for a lifetime. SMSC provides a Life Program that addresses the changing needs of our students as they progress through life, from young adult to senior citizen. We provide a diverse range of activities from work training programs to multi-disciplinary arts; from aquatics, gardening, and farm-to-table food services to a dedicated “senior citizens” program. All activities are designed to help students increase self-esteem, build confidence and learn marketable skills. SMSC fleet of paratransit vans and buses transports registered students between home, campus, community outings, and work /volunteer sites.
